Renal cancer abdominal CT, MRI and retroperitoneal ultrasound medical image datasets

Renal cell carcinomas are responsible for 80% of all primary renal neoplasms in adults. Other less common types of kidney cancer can occur. The extent of local and regional involvement is determined primarily by abdominal computed tomography (CT). Although ultrasonography is less sensitive than CT in detecting a renal mass, it is useful to distinguish a cyst from a solid tumor. MRI may be useful when ultrasonography or CT are inconclusive or if iodinated contrast cannot be administered because of allergy or poor renal function. Our renal cancer database consists of medical images with varying levels of pathology accompanied with detailed radiology reports.
